LATHEEFA KOYA MAMPU JADIKAN SPRM UMPAMA SINGA

Pelantikan Latheefa Koya sebagai Pengerusi SPRM yang baharu menimbulkan pelbagai reaksi samada positif mahupun negatif. Sungguhpun begitu, reaksi negatif yang diterimanya hanya berkisar kepada keahlian aktifnya di dalam parti politik sahaja, dan tiada pihak yang mempersoalkan mengenai kelayakan dan ilmu yang ada padanya.

Sebagai seorang yang berpengalaman lebih 17 tahun di dalam dunia guaman dan mengepalai sebuah NGO hak asasi Lawyers for Liberty, kelayakan beliau lebih dari mencukupi untuk dilantik menerajui badan seperti SPRM.

Soal beliau tidak akan bersifat neutral kerana merupakan ahli parti yang aktif sebelum ini ianya cuma satu tohmahan dan belum lagi terbukti. Sebelum mengkritik beliau, semua pihak seharusnya memberikan beliau masa dan ruang untuk beliau buktikan kemampuannya memikul tugas dengan adil dan bebas.

Bagi Individu yang mengenali Latheefa Koya dengan lebih rapat, mereka tidak akan bimbang kerana beliau sememangnya sudah terkenal dengan karakternya yang berani, tegas, dan tiada pilih kasih ketika mengenakan pakaian peguam.

Di harap Latheefa Koya tidak terkesan dengan tohmahan negatif beberapa pihak dan semoga beliau terus fokus dalam usahanya menjadikan SPRM sebagai badan yang “bertaring” dan “menggigit”.

Untuk SPRM kembali menjadi “singa yang menggigit” segala kes-kes rasuah melibatkan VIP yang sebelum ini dibakulsampahkan harus dibuka semula untuk siasatan. Antara kes tersebut ialah Ops Gopi yang mana individu bernama Gopi dan beberapa pegawai kanan PDRM telah ditangkap dan wang tunai ratusan juta dirampas dalam serbuan. Gopi ini juga mempunyai hubungan rapat dengan bekas Ketua Polis Negara Khalid Abu Bakar dan Pengarah JSJ PDRM Mohmad Salleh serta beberapa lagi pegawai tinggi PDRM.

Jika kes-kes ini berjaya dibuka semula dan pesalah berjaya dihukum maka Latheefa Koya berjaya menutup mulut pihak yang lantang mengkritiknya pelantikannya sebelum ini dan SRPM boleh dikira berada di landasan yang tepat menjadi sebuah badan yang disanjung tinggi.
