RAKYAT MELIHAT PDRM DENGAN IMEJ DAN PERSEPSI YANG NEGATIF

Pada tahun 2017 seramai 149 anggota polis telah ditahan oleh SPRM berkaitan isu rasuah dan seramai 179 pula pada tahun 2016. Kemudian seramai 1519 anggota pula telah dikenakan tindakan disiplin oleh PDRM atas pelbagai kesalahan pada tahun 2017.

Dalam satu kenyataan yang diucapkan oleh Ketua Polis Negara (KPN) Tan Sri Fuzi Harun pada 14 Ogos baru-baru ini, beliau berkata angka ini menunjukkan bahawa pelanggaran disiplin oleh anggotanya berada pada tahap yang membimbangkan. Beliau akan cuba membendung isu ini kerana persepsi masyarakat terhadap anggota polis amatlah negatif.

Di sini kita dapat mengetahui bahawa Tan Sri Fuzi mahukan persepsi negatif itu diubah kepada positif tetapi apa usahanya ke arah itu yang dapat kita lihat?

Boleh dikatakan tiada langsung usaha oleh KPN mahu membersihkan imej polis. Mengapa saya berkata demikian? Jika seorang rakyat biasa melaporkan mengenai salahlaku anggota, pelapor langsung tidak pernah diberitahu mengenai status perkembangan siasatan. Setelah beberapa lama menunggu keputusan siasatan hanyalah NFA atau pelapor diberitahu hukuman telah dikenakan tetapi tidak dimaklumkan hukuman yang bagaimana.

Sebagai contoh dalam kes GOPI iaitu individu yang disiasat oleh SPRM kerana memberi rasuah kepada Pegawai Kanan polis bagi mengelak Pusat Judi miliknya diserbu. Senarai Pegawai Kanan tersebut telah tersebar beserta bukti panggilan telefon dibuat oleh GOPI tetapi sehingga ke hari ini masih tidak diketahui status siasatan PDRM.

Malah ada Pegawai Kanan yang masih bertugas seperti biasa tanpa tindakan dari PDRM walhal namanya terpalit dalam isu ini. Adakah tindakan atau hukuman hanya layak dikenakan kepada polis bawahan sahaja tetapi Pegawai Kanan kebal dari tindakan?

Ingin saya tekankan sekali lagi bahawa rakyat melihat PDRM dengan imej dan persepsi yang cukup negatif disebabkan KPN tiada langsung usaha membersihkan imej buruk tersebut.
